Fundamentals of Foundation Grant Writing

An Instructor- Guided Online Course Starting October 1, 2014

For over 40 years, Thompson Information Services has been relied upon for the most authoritative, timely and practical grants guidance available. Grants professionals have come to rely on Thompson for help complying with the ever-changing regulatory mandates facing their organizations. Thompson is now expanding its services to include professional grant-writing course instruction via the newly formed —Thompson eLearning.

The Fundamentals of Foundation Grant Writing is a 4-month, instructor-guided online course designed to teach students how to write a standard foundation grant proposal. The lessons learned from this course can be applied to any professional field — education, health care, social services, environment, faith-based, and governmental agencies.

As part of the course, students will select a project of their choice and write a 3-to-5 page grant proposal for the benefit of their nonprofit or public organization. They will be guided through the development of their proposals section-by-section, providing and receiving feedback from fellow classmates and the course instructor every step of the way.

At the conclusion of the course, graduates will be able to:

• Collect data and information to write a grant proposal,

• Write a foundation grant proposal utilizing a standard format,

• Constructively critique the work of other grant writers, and

• Understand how foundations make funding decisions.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone on your staff who wants to tackle grant writing. Completing just one application in-house, instead of hiring a grantwriter, will more than cover the cost of instruction.

But you need to act quickly, and here’s why:

To better control the quality of instruction and student/teacher interaction, we can only accept 20 students for this course. So, if you’ve always wanted to get a trained grantwriter on staff, now’s your chance. Completing just one application, in-house instead of hiring a grantwriter, will more than cover the cost of instruction.
